A 3-phase changeover switch is an electrical device primarily used in power systems to switch between the main power supply and a backup or standby power system in case the main power supply fails, ensuring a continuous supply of power. It is basically a device used to ensure an uninterrupted power supply.
When power fails, the 3-phase changeover switch senses the absence of power in the main supply system, switches off the main line and opens a gate for power supply from the standby generator or the second supply. After the power restoration in the main supply system, the machine automatically re-transfers from the backup or standby power system to the main supply system.
The ease of installation of a 3-phase changeover switch mainly depends on the switch's model and the existing electric arrangements. If there are complications, it is better to have an electrician or a professional carry out the installation.
